We all have those times when we need help and are given very few options. I am one of those people. I’m a silent partner, not a partner. This is something I have come to recognize and embrace. I work for myself, but not so much that I’m left to my own devices. You can see me taking on more of the work in my online work, as well.

I find that this is an important way to understand people who are more proactive about marketing themselves, but I’ve also found it to be one of those things where the person who has the best understanding of how to market themselves does it more slowly. They do it more cautiously, not because they are a slow learner, but because they have an idea of what they want to do and they try to work within their current limitations.

It seems that you can be a silent partner in a conversation if you want to be. If you go and say, “I’m the one who does this, and I like it, but I don’t think we’ll work as a team,” you will most likely get an answer that “no, you don’t, but you should.

I’m all for slow, deliberate marketing. If you want to take something slow and deliberate, you can do so. It’s hard to be a true partner if you’re going to ask youself what you want to do next. It’s also good to think about your own boundaries and the ones you have to protect.

In fact, I think the best marketing is not trying to be a partner. The best marketing is being a true partner, and not caring who you end up with. We have to be the ones to say no, because that is the only way to be a true partner. We have to do the team work to make the sale, because that is how we win.

Yes, its a bit of a sad story, but you don’t need to make a deal with the devil to make a deal. You don’t need to make a deal with a salesman to make a deal. You can’t make a deal with a salesman who has a deal with the devil. That is the most obvious. But you also don’t need to be a salesman to make a sale.
