The best way to find a local inspector for your area is through your local realtor association. These associations are the only groups that are allowed to hire realtors. When I first started my realtor career I was so lucky to get a referral from my local association. I had never been to a meeting. My local association invited us to meet for breakfast. For the first time in my life I was able to sit down and talk to the other members of our association.
IAR has a referral program where your local realtor association can pay a referral fee for someone who they think is a good fit for your area. They give you a card with the name, phone number, email, and a description of the person they are referring. The card is given to the referral and you provide them with a home inspection report, but you don’t have any control over when they do it.
This is all very exciting for me. I love the idea of people going to an association meeting and seeing a person of interest and saying, “Hey, let’s do this together.” That’s a fantastic idea for realtors, but if you’re looking to make money from referrals, IAR isn’t the place to be.
