This is why you see so many things with so much information in it. We see so many people who do not understand the marketing message. They think they can just watch a film of a movie and they will understand it. But most of them have never seen the movie or heard of the film’s message. They’re not self-aware. They may not be able to get their message out or even understand it, but they can still use it.
We’re seeing a lot of people who think they have an advantage over others because they can read a book. But the book is a very long book so they can get to the end and understand that there is no way anyone can do what they’re thinking about doing.
This is where most of the marketing strategies fall apart. No matter how sophisticated you are about your marketing strategies, you can still end up with more than you can deal with. Because your marketing strategy should be a means of getting your message out, not just the point of it all.
That’s why I think there’s a real problem with so much of the marketing messages that you see out there. I think it’s time for a change. I think it’s time to start thinking about marketing more like a conversation. It’s not like the message is already known and it’s not like it’s already all planned and executed. You don’t write a book, you don’t write a newspaper, you don’t write a blog.
Sure you can say, “Hey guys! It’s been a while. This is our new blog. We’re gonna tell you about all the cool things we’ve been doing. And we’re gonna tell you how you should do it too!” But you can’t just tell people to read the blog and hope they will pay attention. I think its time to start putting words to action, not just words to talk about.
