In the past few years, social media have been a huge part of our daily lives, so it’s no surprise that we use them almost everywhere.
We connect with people online to share ideas, send messages or just play games. In online games you can either choose between playing with friends or meeting new people.
Most of the time users prefer to play with other strangers instead of playing with their friends for a reason, they simply hide behind the anonymity and communication difficulties that come from a lack of vocal communication.
3. The age of the average user is between 21 and 29.
Online games are quite popular among the younger generation, especially teenagers. It’s no surprise that even though they are still children, online games are a huge part of their social life.

On average, users get about $6 per month from free advertising, competitions and gifts for playing online games.

For example, in most multiplayer games players can spend hours talking to each other without actually saying anything or just sending messages that are meaningless to them alone. But they enjoy this social interaction because of the competition which brings them together.

When a person tries to stop playing a particular game, they often experience severe withdrawal symptoms, including low mood and feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Not just that, but now serious research has been conducted to see how online games can be used as a proactive treatment for depression.
The findings have been positive so far, and it seems that playing games online may actually help people recover from mental disorders like major depression.
Online games are addictive because of their social aspects, which come in different shapes and forms, it can be competition, communication or even just the feeling of belonging to a group.
